HIGH STREET GOES DESIGNER

Spotted: Katie Holmes in a shirt by Comme des Garcons for H&M
Designer collaborations at H&M have become a fashion tradition, with everyone from Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld to - most recently - Roberto Cavalli vying to team up with the popular Swedish retailer.

And the launch of the Comme des Garcons collection on Thursday could be their most exciting yet.

The Japanese label, started in 1969 by iconic Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, is famous for its kooky, unusual shapes and cuts, but the collection for H&M is surprisingly wearable. With a range for men, women and children, as well as accessories and a unisex fragrance, there is plenty of the trademark elaborate tailoring, fitted shirts and knits.
In Japan, where the collection launched on Saturday, punters were forming an orderly queue from Wednesday. And the label has also had A-list approval from actress Katie Holmes, above, who has been pictured in key pieces.
At the top of our winter wish list is the star of the collection, a ruffled layered frock at £199.99, a cute cardigan in the label's signature polka dot and, for those who are feeling brave, baggy pants with the crotch at the knee.
Prices from £14.99, available from H&M nationwide from Thursday, hm.com
A JEWEL OF A FIND
Semi-precious jewellery by Vanessa Kandiyoti, from £325, at Liberty
Semi-precious jewellery by Vanessa Kandiyoti, from £325, at Liberty
If you're looking for something a little different to the over-sized statement jewellery on the catwalk this season, you'll love the more delicate, feminine creations of new designer Vanessa Kandiyoti.
Her work is based around the 'evil eye', which legend has it provides protection for its wearer.
Created from rose, white or yellow gold, Kandiyoti uses precious and semi-precious stones in her work. Our favourites are two long yellow gold necklaces, one with blue sapphires and diamonds, the other with pink sapphires and diamonds.
Both would be the perfect festive bling to go with your little black dress.
With prices from £325, they are on the expensive side, but would be an investment buy.
Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and designer Giorgio Armani have already snapped up theirs.

FEASTING FOR FASHIONISTAS
In the run-up to Christmas, there is one reservation everyone is after.
Hip new 'pop-up' restaurant Flash offers a chic and exclusive dining experience in an art installation at London's Royal Academy.
The entire restaurant is made from storage boxes. Stacked 4.6m high, like building blocks, the inside of the boxes display works by up-and-coming artists such as Simon Popper and Alexis Teplin.

Flash in a pan: A reservation at the Royal Academy's new pop-up restaurant is the latest fashionable must-have
It is the latest offering from the clever people behind 2006's successful Reindeer restaurant, where even celebs couldn't nab a table during its stint on Brick Lane.
Launching as part of the GSK Contemporary exhibition of modern art at the Royal Academy, Flash will be at the RA's Burlington Gardens until January 18.
And adding a fashion edge, Flash has teamed up with Giles Deacon, who has created a centre-piece for the restaurant, with his first dazzling chandelier in collaboration with Swarovski. But decor aside, we're most excited about the mouth-watering menu, which is classic French cuisine with a distinctly Californian touch.
