Naruto: "Remembrance: The Lost Page" Review

Watching this episode it seems like we have the start of a good arc on our hands. This episode wasn't great, but it was definitely a good start to what looks like an interesting story ahead of us.

This week Naruto, Shino, and Ino are teamed together with Anko for a mission. The mission is to protect a ship from being attacked by this monster terrorizing the sea country. Anko hasn't been seen since the Chunin Exams and it's a bit sad, because she's actually pretty amusing. She's obviously talented, but she has the quirkiest behavior and her thing where she sneaks up behind Naruto reminds us so much of Orochimaru.

The pairing of Naruto, Ino, and Shino is okay so far. Naruto and Shino are cool, but Ino is just plain annoying. She's actually more annoying then having Sakura around and just insults Naruto at will.

It's surprising that Anko's past and history with Orochimaru hasn't been revealed sooner. Especially around the Sasuke retrieval arc, I would think that she would have been a big help if she had been involved. We learn a bit about Anko this episode that she worked under Orochimaru while she was also a ninja in the leaf village. Anko's mission logs though are missing chunks of information though, because Orochimaru wiped out the important parts of her memory to cover up whatever it was he was planning.

As Anko progresses through this mission, we see flashbacks of her time with Orochimaru. None of these memories seemed too important, but it does show the relationship between Anko and Orochimaru, which seemed father/daughter like. Plus it was nice seeing a young Anko.

The last moments of the episode saw the team get out into open sea, only to be attacked by the water ninja that we've seen before. Naruto got the chakra drained out of him and the last visual we have is of him floating to the bottom of the sea.

It was a pretty good episode and this story really has the potential to be entertaining. All of these filler episodes should be like this one; they should serve as providing us with background for other characters.

It was a well put together episode and definitely a bounce back from the last episode, which was somewhat a mess. The next couple of episodes look to be interesting. The last several missions have ended in failure with the exception of the ghost mission episode. Hopefully this mission and story arc will be a success.
