2 Japanese doctors arrested for smoking marijuana in Indonesia

Two Japanese doctors holidaying on an Indonesian resort island have been arrested for smoking marijuana, local police said Monday.

The two men, aged 30 and 34, were arrested while allegedly smoking marijuana with two Indonesian women in a hotel room on Lombok Island, next to Bali, according to Syamsuri, an officer at the Central Lombok Police Precinct, who like many Indonesians goes by a single name. ‘‘We raided their hotel room after we received reports from local residents who saw them buying marijuana,’’ he said. According to the police officer, 11.37 grams of marijuana were also confiscated from them.
